“£12.99?! For a magazine!” my mum cried, bewildered, when I asked for a copy of iD with a big feature on Rinko Kikuchi, for my 17th birthday. Begrudgingly, she accepted, but now, nearly 17 years later, she can see it was worth the investment. Admittedly, that copy is dog-eared, but still on my bookshelf, and I revisit it time after time for inspiration on set design, editorial shoots and make up.
