SUSHI AND PUNK ROCK: Japanese chef Endo Kazutoshi has announced his next move: ENDO, a 10-seat omakase in a two-storey Chelsea townhouse, with an upstairs listening bar called Moga. Opens October (ENDO) and December (Moga); more.
STILL FLOWING: Fresh from closing his tasting menu spot The Waterhouse Project, chef Gabriel Waterhouse and his wife Patricia Wakaimba are opening a new restaurant, Waterhouse, not far down the road. Off Columbia Road Flower Market, the eponymous restaurant will serve a menu inspired by the chef’s upbringing in Northumberland. Opens 06/08, with a wine bar following in September.
GRANNY KNOWS BEST: Elliot Hashtroudi and the team behind Borough Market restaurant Camille are planning a new spot. Opening late autumn in Farringdon, the new restaurant will be influenced by Hashtroudi’s grandmother, delving into old regional British and Irish cooking.
A MUSE BOUCHE: Robin Gill (Darby’s, Bar Brasso, intel) is overseeing the culinary direction of four new concepts at London Museum, which is moving to Smithfield Market in November. The offering will include contemporary restaurant Clerks House, neighbourhood bar Bartholomew’s, a café called Temperance Cocoa Rooms, and The Roost, an incubator space for emerging food talent. Opens 28/11; more.
A PIZZA THE PIE: Bermondsey is getting a new pizzeria from a trio of chefs and restaurateurs from Legare, WatchHouse and The Dusty Knuckle. Opening on Bermondsey Street in September, Five Feet will serve pan pizzas on light, aerated dough made with heritage grains milled on site.
PUB GRUB: In September, chef Avi Shashidhara will open a neighbourhood pub in Shepherd’s Bush. In a 120-year-old building on Uxbridge Road, Talli Queen will serve Indian cooking with the spirit of a London local. Bookings from 01/09; Visit. –Laura Price

Neighbourhood you work in: Belgravia
Neighbourhood you live in: Brook Green
It’s Wednesday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Our office is in the back of Weezie’s. The amie, RODEN and Weezie’s teams all work together in one space, which we love. When the office team arrives at 830a, we get a big pot of coffee on with our Moccamaster (Allpress beans!) and get to work on our laptops. I love the mornings; they’re when I get the most done.
What’s on the agenda for today?
I’m working on two big projects for RODEN clients: a breakfast event that we’re producing in Copenhagen for Fashion Week, and one for a London-based client in August, which will be hosted at Weezie’s.
Any restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
I’m not in London this week, but last week I had a friend in town from America and we did dinner at our local Italian in Brook Green: Pentolina. It’s such a delicious hidden gem, with a gorgeous terrace for summer. The food is amazing. We then did Weezie’s (of course!) for dinner the second night, and on Friday morning we went to Notting Hill for pastries at Layla, then The Pelican for lunch.
How about a little leisure or culture?
We’re currently in Beer, Devon, with my husband’s family. We love it here. His family comes down every summer for what they call ‘cricket week’ – my husband has been doing it for 37 years, he hasn’t missed one! It’s lots of playing and watching cricket, and lots of beach time.
Any weekend getaways?
We just spent 48 hours in Mallorca for a wedding. We stayed at Can Aulí in Pollença, the perfect base. You’re so close to walk to all of the restaurants and shops, but it feels like an escape from people with the beautiful garden and pool. The breakfasts are delicious. We loved Can Mir 45 in Pollença for tapas and the most authentic feel.
What was your last great holiday?
My husband and I went to Masseria Moroseta in Puglia for three nights in April. We stayed there five years ago and absolutely loved it, and it was so nice to be back again. The food is what really makes it; everything that comes out of that kitchen is incredible. We love Cala Sata for swimming and people-watching, and you can’t miss a meal at Il Cortiletto. Definitely go to Terre di San Vito for a wine tasting and a visit to their gorgeous grounds, and don’t miss Grottaglie if you love ceramics – so many amazing studios are in a small cluster here. Start with one of the Fasano ones and meander around to the others.
What store or service do you always recommend?
For stores, I love WNU and Supermarket of Dreams. For services, Ayanna Spa in Holland Park.
Where are you donating your time or money?
Charity: Water. My husband and I both read the founder Scott Harrison’s book, Thirst. They operate on a 100% transparency model, with wealthy donors part of a group called ‘The Well’. They donate directly to overhead costs, staff salaries, trips to the field etc, making it possible for 100% of public donations to go straight to the field. Water changes everything: health, economic empowerment, women’s time, children’s education. They’re an incredible charity that we’ve supported since day one of launching amie, and we’ve now raised nearly £50k for them.
